Grain Sacks
Anatolian woolen grain sacks, are known as "chuval" in Turkey. These embroidered sacks were an essential tool for the nomadic tribes of this region as they roamed the land, carrying their goods with them. Beautifully woven with bold and colorful designs, today chuval make excellent pillows, bench covers, wall hangings and artwork.
Grain Sacks from Abroad

Tessera offers a variety of woolen grain sacks over 70 years old. Grain sacks are no longer used in the fields and these bags are wonderful collector pieces. The front side of each bag is decorated with an elaborate design while the back side is often striped or neutral. This technique ensures that the ornamental design of the bag is protected from the wear-and-tear of travel. This grain sack is 50”x 30”.
