Salt Bags from Turkey
Salt bags were used in Turkey and throughout Central Asia by shepherds to haul chunks of rock salt which would be fed to their sheep to help them drink and retain more water. Salt bags needed to be tightly woven and sturdy with a narrow neck to keep salt in and water out, thus their unique shape and appearance. Now, these woolen bags can make a statement displayed as a wall hanging, framed, or used to decorate a special table.
