Tibet

Whenever I hear about the turmoil in Tibet, I am reminded of our trip to Dharamsala, India, the home of the Dalai Lama and the capital of the exiled Tibetan government. We made our way to Dharamsala through the Himalayas, climbing higher and higher until we came to a Tibetan oasis in the middle of India. The town is sometimes known as "Little Lhasa", after the Tibetan capital city, and is home to thousands of exiles who have established monasteries, temples and schools throughout the area. The most special part of this trip was my visit to the Dharmsala Children’s Village, a refuge for some 2000 Tibetan children. Most came across the Himalayas from Tibet, sent by their parents to live at the village in the hope that they will have a better life in freedom across the border. With this great sacrifice, their parents ensure not only their safety but the preservation of their Tibetan heritage. After two days in this lovely, peaceful town we ventured out on the road again, taking our memories of Little Lhasa and its children with us.

Religious Artifacts

Religious faith, regardless of its tenets or cultural origins, has inspired some of the most beautiful artwork in the world. The retablo art form traces its origin to Spain and was perfected by the Ayacucho artisans of Peru. Traditionally, the retablo is a painted wooden carving or panel depicting the saints or scenes of agrarian life. These works of religious folk art, and those we offer from other regions like Tibet, India, and Mexico, will captivate your guests and clients with their enchanting simplicity. View details...
