Chulucan pottery is made in the small village Chulucana. The village is located on the slopes of Mount Vicus , in the far Northern portion of Peru. Chulucan artisans make these pieces only with their hands and feet – no potter's wheel is used. Finished pieces are given a coat of color, and burnished with a special polishing stone for a brilliant shine. Then, using a paste of earth and water, designs may be added.

Approximately 100 years old, our Peruvian troughs are made from one piece of wood, and were originally used as animal feeders and for the storage of corn. At some point in the early 1920s inlays were applied depicting farm life in the central Andes.
